The SGN Process (De-Sludging Shore Tanks & Pipelines)
This is a procedure to remove waxy sludge from shore storage tanks, vessel cargo tanks and bunker tanks. The process involves the initial addition of a solvent to the tank to prevent recrystallization of paraffins. Subsequently, the appropriate quantity of the two SGN reagents is added along with an activator to adjust reaction kinetics. This instigates a chemical reaction which generates ebullience and heat to break down the residues which are then dissolved into a solvent and recovered as usable oil.
